Due to low inlet and outlet water, lakes suffer serious pollution problems.
Rivers, for their ability to drive and movement of water, are able to withstand higher amounts of contaminants. However, the presence of so many household waste, fertilizers, pesticides and industrial waste alters the flora and fauna. In unpolluted waters there is a balance between animals and plants, which is broken by the presence of foreign material. Thus, some species disappear while others are overproduced. In addition, the waters acquire an appearance and odor. Rivers are the main source of drinking water supply of human populations. Contamination limits the availability of this resource essential for life.
